T for tea

Are you a tea drinker? A coffee addict? I love the smell of coffee. When coffee is brewing, the aroma is so luxurious to me and my eyes tend to close and just drink it in with my senses. While I enjoy a cuppa every once in awhile, (and I love coffee ice cream!) I do prefer a cup of tea, 9 days out of 10.

I used to drink hot tea only with milk and sugar but about 2 years or so ago, the sugar bowl was empty or we were out of milk and I just drank it straight up. I've never gone back. Sometimes I do add a bit of honey or a slice of lemon depending if a sore throat is up to no good, but usually I don't add anything to it. Tea is a restorative. It is calming and can be rejuvenating when need be. It soothes a bad night and can calm an upset tummy. It nurses anxiety and keeps me company while I knit. Rarely does a day or night go by when I don't put on the kettle, it's a sweet routine that I cherish.

These are my current favorite teas:

What are yours? I'm always looking to try new ones.

  1. I love a cup of Red Rose tea. Could be that I just love the tiny porcelain figurines that come in the box...hehe. Twinings English Breakfast is wonderful too.

  2. Lady Lavender, a lavender and white tea blend, and Dragonwell, a China green tea; both from a local tea company - Zhi Tea.

  3. I adore tea. I took my family to Happy House last night out local Chinese restaurant . Their tea is heavenly. I was saddened to see my girls pour sugar in it. Maybe they will appreciate it when they are older? Tazo zen is my absolute favorite. Perhaps medicinal. I love my morning cup of Joe but tea is more peaceful, tranquil..makes you think.

  4. Oh my Tanya...you are hitting my bells with this one! I drink one cup of coffee a day (in the morning). The rest of the day I'm drinking either water or tea. My favorite all time tea is Earl Gray and I prefer Twinnings. However, my Daddy and step-mother turned me on (over Christmas) to The Republic of Tea and oh my goodness...I just cannot tell you how much I adore their teas. A little pricey as compared to others, but worth it. They have a whole line and I've tried about 10 different teas. They believe in the "medicine" quality of tea as well and there are a couple that I've ordered (tumeric ginger for example) that's really wanting to try. They have a line of Downton Abbey Teas that I thought was just marketing, but honest to goodness...DELICIOUS! Their Earl Greyer is wonderful, paired with Blackberry Sage. Wild Blueberry, Hibiscous Rose Raspberry all wonderful. The only one I've tried to date that I don't care for is Vanilla Almond. anyway...fabulous!

  7. Yes, I enjoy my tea. First thing in the morning, have Lady Grey tea, iand add Goji Berries ( soften up in the hot water) t is milder flavor than Earl Grey, and the bergamot leaves are good for respiratory conditions, I was told.
When I feel sleepier in the morning, English Breakfast tea. We buy a big jar of honey from a local farm, Griggstown Farmer's market.
In the afternoon, like Peach tea, Blueberry, Jasmine Green tea.
